Carla and Lisa are finally on board the Swarla train just like the rest of us have been for the last six months. And, we're all delighted about it.
With this monumental moment having just aired in which they decided to give a relationship a go, we take a look at the key points in Swarla's love story that got us here!

Swain permanent
The moment that set everything off rather nicely was the announcement that Vicky Myers' DS Lisa Swain would be permanently joining the soap.
Vicky also revealed that Swain was gay and 'had her eye on someone,' with fans immediately starting to look for possible love matches for her.
The car scene
This was the moment the broke that wall. Carla started to see the woman behind the detective, realising that Lisa was human just like her.
With Lisa crying in the car with Carla and also telling her about the death of her wife Becky, the chemistry was undeniable - even if they both didn't realise it yet.
'Don't leave town'
When Carla found Lisa's work pass, she made sure to return it to her even if that was just a way for her to be closer to Lisa, giving her an excuse to see her.
This was the first time we saw Lisa go into gay panic mode after Carla made her 'don't leave town' comment resulting in Lisa just standing staring at Carla walk away...

Spaghetti, spaghetti
When Carla was having a breakdown in the factory, Lisa came to her rescue and comforted her.
She gave Carla a gentle rub on the arm that did not go unnoticed by Betsy. Lisa told her daughter that there was nothing going on and that they were just friends... but this moment was super important as it planted the seed in Lisa's head. As Lisa protested that Carla 'was straight,' Betsy said 'so is spaghetti 'til you boil it.' And, she wasn't wrong,
Carla's hit and run
Carla fessed up to Lisa that she was responsible for hitting a lad with her car at the precinct.
As Lisa took her in for questioning, Betsy then turned up after and witnessed her mum and Carla talking at the station.
After suggesting that they were on a date, Carla couldn't help but smile at the idea no matter how much Lisa tried to dismiss it.
Defending Carla
Things were kind of awkward between Lisa and Carla after the hit and run, but Lisa soon came to Carla's rescue when the dad of the guy she hit cornered her in her office.
With Lisa arresting the guy, she then headed to Carla's flat later on to check if she was okay. A bottle of red was the cracked open...

The moment
As Lisa opened up to Carla about her mental health, and with Carla having just finalised her divorce, a spark was felt.
Carla told Lisa not 'to put herself in harm's way' as she gave her a hug and brushed her hair behind her ear.
Lisa panicked and legged it, with Carla suddenly realising what that moment actually meant... everything was clicking into place and the cogs were turning nicely.
You straight birds
Carla turned up at the station the next day and was desperate to speak to Lisa. Lisa wanted to brush everything under the carpet and even assumed that Carla was 'a straight bird' and 'a tourist.'
The pair settled on being friends but it was clear that this was going to be hard...
Coronation Street Swarla: Bruises
Carla tried to support Lisa over a drink in the Bistro whilst she was having a hard time at work with the whole Joel stuff. She then went in for a hug but Lisa flinched.
After a misunderstanding, Carla realised that Lisa was actually injured. Carla eventually told Betsy about Lisa's car accident and once Lisa realised she only had good intentions, she told Carla that she could interfere in her life as much as she wanted.
Festival tickets
Carla certainly got those brownie points when she bagged Lisa sone festival tickets for Betsy whilst she was caught up with work drama.
This moment showed just how smitten Carla was. She'd go to the ends of the Earth to make Lisa happy.

Drunk in the pub
On the anniversary of Becky's death, Lisa got drunk in the pub and was rescued by Carla.
Ryan had called Carla after Lisa begged him to sing a duet with her. Carla then entertained Lisa and took her back to hers, putting a blanket over her as she fell asleep on the sofa. It was at this point that Carla's feelings were becoming hard to ignore...
Coronation Street Swarla: Kiss one
After getting Lisa some breakfast to help with her hangover, Carla was encouraged by Ryan to admit her feelings.
Carla took the plunge and headed back to the flat, telling Lisa not to get dressed. She then kissed her and ended up sleeping with her - twice.
Sadly though, Betsy got in the way of anything else happening as Lisa decided to put some distance between herself and Carla and prioritise her daughter instead. Carla was devastated.

The attack
Lisa couldn't keep away from Carla as she faced losing another woman she deeply cared about - and on an argument too.
After Carla was attacked and needed emergency brain surgery for a brain bleed, Lisa stayed by her bedside all night. But, she just couldn't admit her feelings just yet...
Confession
With Roy Cropper giving Lisa some very wise words, she finally decided to put herself first and give herself another chance at happiness.
She then headed to Carla's flat and confessed her feelings for her. After a kiss, the pair then sat Betsy down and decided that they were going to give a relationship a go! At last, Swarla are official on Coronation Street!
