In recent months, Carla Connor and Lisa Swain (dubbed by fans as 'Swarla') have amassed a rather large fanbase, with fans new and old coming together to enjoy their blossoming relationship.
Though unfortunately, we're yet to have a successful sapphic wedding on the street, there's been a few relationships over the years...
Sophie & Sian (2010-2011)

Back in 2010, Sally and Kevin's youngest daughter, Sophie, came out as a lesbian. Best friend Sian was dating Ryan Connor at the time, but the girls shared a kiss, which ultimately let to them giving into their feelings and embarking on a secret relationship.
Their romance didn't remain a secret for long, and a year later, the pair were set to be married. Unfortunately, this didn't go to plan, with Sian breaking up with Sophie, after she found out she'd kissed someone else.
Sophie & Maddie (2014-2015)

Next up for Sophie came Maddie, whom she met at a soup kitchen. Maddie was homeless at the time, and immediately clashed with Sally. Due to this, the relationship was not initially met with approval from Sophie's mother, though this didn't stop the pair from staying together.
Unfortunately, after a year of dating, Maddie was killed during the Victoria Court fire, getting caught in an explosion, and dying from her injuries.
Kate & Caz (2015-2016)

Initially, Caz was a character who remained off screen, due to her job in the army, though she and Kate were engaged when she first arrived on the cobbles.
When eventually Caz arrived on the scene too, it quickly became clear that she was controlling and jealous, faking an injury to force Kate to spend more time with her. Eventually, she was arrested for attacking Kate.
Sophie & Kate (2018-2018)

Kate and Sophie's romantic relationship was short lived, though the pair were friends for quite awhile, much to the annoyance of Kate's girlfriend at the time, Caz.
Though they did eventually try to embark on a relationship, though they soon ended it, with Kate struggling with her feelings for her eventual finacée, Rana.
Kate & Rana (2017-2019)
Perhaps the most well known lesbian relationship in Coronation Street before now, Kate and Rana (otherwise known as 'Kana') started out as an affair, mostly due to Rana's strict Muslim parents and internalised homophobia caused by her upbringing.
Eventually, after disowning her parents, Rana and Kate embarked on a public relationship, and were very much in love. The two women both bought each other engagement rings, with the intention of proposing at the same time.
Unfortunately, things came to a tragic end on their wedding day, when the factory roof collapsed with Rana inside. She died in Kate's arms.
Sophie & Paula (2018-2019)

When Paula arrived, as a friend of Sophie's mother Sally, the pair had an instant connection, despite the age difference. Initially, Paula tried to set Sophie up with her daughter (who was a similar age, and a lesbian) but things didn't go well between the pair. Instead, Paula and Sophie fell for each other.
Although Sally disapproved of their relationship at first, they dated for a year, until Sophie ended up leaving the street to go travelling.
Nina and Asha (2022-2024)
Though the pair dated briefly in 2021, they broke up, leading to Nina getting into a relationship with Seb Franklin, who died when the pair were attacked. The following year, Nina and Asha rekindled their relationship.
After dating for two years, their relationship came to an end, after both girls found themselves dealing with jealousy, and Nina kissed Asha's twin brother, Aadi. The pair have since remained friends.
Carla & Lisa (2024-?)

The newest relationship on the list is, of course, Carla and Lisa. Their relationship has finally become official as of last week, with both women admitting their feelings. It won't all be plain sailing as they navigate their new romance, but we can only hope they have a happier ending than most of the sapphic ships that have come before them.
