Last month, nightshoots were underway on the cobbles, with a fire expected to set the Platt house ablaze sometime in late January.
Very little is known so far about this mysterious fire, but with the Platts embroiled in plenty of drama over the festive period, it’s likely one of these incidents is going to take a deadly turn.
With Gail Platt sadly waving goodbye to the cobbles for good on Christmas Day, the only residents remaining into January will be David, Shona, Max and Lily.
There are a few contenders for the fire starter, especially with David stealing Harvey Gaskell’s money, and using it as a down payment on that very house. Despite Harvey currently serving time in jail, he still has plenty of associates on the outside — including Mason Radcliffe’s brothers, Matty and Logan.

While the brothers may very well be the ones to start the fire, it seems unlikely that they’ll be acting alone…but we don’t think murderer Harvey will be the one pulling the strings.
As Shona’s affair with Kit Green continues, a fued is set to break out between the dodgy copper and David Platt over the festive period — could he be the one calling the shots?
As fans know, Kit has already proven himself to be bent time and time again. He planted one of Lauren Bolton’s hairs in Nathan Curtis’ van to get him sent down, scared Beth Tinker off the street after getting involved in her counterfeit designer dealings, stole files on the night Joel Deering died, and has deleted multiple pieces of evidence.

The copper seems to be good at sabotaging situations without ever getting his hands dirty, and after scenes on Wednesday 18th December showed Kit beating up Matty Radcliffe, could it be that he feels he now has the brothers in his pocket?
Given that both boys have been in trouble with the law multiple times, it could be a mutually beneficial partnership — in theory. Kit is unlikely to hesitate, when it comes to throwing them under the bus, but might the brothers agree to set the house on fire, thinking they’ve found an ally who can help them get off future charges?
As Kit and the Radcliffes both see David as an enemy now, it seems likely that a partnership could be the cause of his house going up in flames…but, if that’s the case, will the dodgy copper be able to get away scot-free once again?
