Coronation Street: Who was Leanne's dad Les Battersby?

Coronation Street has just killed off Les Battersby - the dad of Leanne and stepdad of Toyah and Chesney.

The police informed Leanne that he died at work. But, do you remember him and his time on the Street? Here's a recap!

The early days of Les Battersby

Les arrived on the Street in 1997 as the husband on Janice Lee. He was Leanne's dad and Toyah's stepdad. He knew how to get himself into a fair few fights, even being an unlikeable character at the start due to his transphobic treatment of Hayley Cropper and his involvement in causing chaos to her wedding day to Roy.

By the time 2000 hit, Les had started to calm his temper and had lost some of his villainous ways...

Janice and Les

Janice and Les entered the soap together and were happily married until Janice cheated on her husband with Dennis Stringer.

Les found thus out and was devastated, attempting to end his own life. Dennis actually found Les and saved him but disaster struck.

On the way to the hospital, Dennis crashed his vehicle and died as a result. Janice and Les soon got divorced after this incident.

After Janice, along came Cilla Brown, Chesney's mum. Meeting her in 2003, Les and Cilla planned a fake marriage in 2005 so that they could get wedding presents off everyone.

With their plan being eventually rumbled, they actually decided to officially get married after this.

Les then went on to adopt Chesney in 2006.

Coronation Street: Goodbye Les

With Cilla off to pursue her dreams in Las Vegas, Les decided to pack up his bags and leave the cobbles in 2007 to join a tribute band and go on tour.

Les didn't return to the Street ever again, and has just been killed off this evening in an off-screen death. Goodbye Les!
